Harvard University claimed the top position during the 2022-23 Best Global Universities general ranking which comprises 2,000 institutions across 95 countries around the globe.

Universities are eligible to be placed into the global Best Global Universities ranking if they were in the top 250 universities that were evaluated in a worldwide reputation survey or had published at least 1250 articles between 2016 and 2020.
These rankings are not based on admissions figures or teacher evaluations, faculty statistics, or data on student performance. They are not a rating of any specific undergraduate or graduate degree.
Again, Harvard University located in Massachusetts won the number. first place spot for the Best Global Universities general ranking. The top five universities are identical to the previous year including Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University in California, University of California Berkeley as well as the University of Oxford in the U.K. being next to Harvard in that order.
